Most people get the vitamins and minerals that they need by eating food, but sometimes it can be good to take supplements when you’re experiencing certain issues. Vitamin D

Vitamin D supplements are going to be helpful when you’re not getting enough of it by eating food. During the spring and summer, you’ll get some vitamin D due to being exposed to sunlight. You don’t get nearly as much during the autumn and winter months, though. It can be beneficial to take vitamin D supplements from September until March so that you can ensure that you’re getting enough of it to stay healthy. 

Magnesium

It can sometimes be good to take magnesium supplements under the right circumstances. Research has shown that magnesium helps people with blood pressure issues. It’s also known to lower anxiety levels while helping people to sleep better. You don’t want to ingest too much magnesium, though, because it could give you indigestion or cause diarrhea symptoms. 

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is crucial because it helps brain functions and your blood cells. If you’re deficient in Vitamin B12, then it can lead to muscle weakness, anemia, mood problems, and more. Vegans and vegetarians will benefit from taking Vitamin B12 supplements since it’s difficult for them to get enough of it in their regular meals. You certainly don’t want to be deficient since it can negatively impact your health in so many ways. 

Iron

Iron is normally something that you get enough of when you eat red meat and fatty fish. This means that vegans and vegetarians will have to take supplements sometimes to avoid iron deficiency. Iron deficiency can make you feel fatigued and weak overall. It’s also been known to impair cognitive function. 

Iodine

Iodine deficiency isn’t something that most people have to deal with, but it does occur in vegans and vegetarians sometimes. Foods that contain iodine include dairy products and various types of fish. Deficiency could lead to thyroid issues in some cases. This has been linked to issues with obesity, heart disease, and infertility.
