About James J. Alberino
James Alberino is a dedicated fitness instructor and personal trainer in Marblehead, MA, with over ten years of experience. He is specifically trained in personal training, group fitness, and sports coaching and spent much of his career honing these skills through both his professional career and his personal hobbies. James currently teaches Enhance Fitness at the COA Senior Center in Salem, MA, and at the YMCA in the same location.
For eight years, James Alberino coached both regular and all-star baseball teams for Marblehead Youth Baseball; he was also the President of the Marblehead Babe Ruth League. He was able to show his passion for sports while coaching and as president, involving himself in his community and helping kids reach their athletic goals. As a coach, James took pride in his all-star baseball teams; the hard work and dedication the team members put into each practice and game showed, as did their passion for the game. Seeing that passion both on and off the field made each year he was involved in the program worth the time and effort.
Though James Alberino eventually became a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer for his career, he didn’t initially set out on that career path. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, from 1969 to 1973 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. From 1975 to 1977, James furthered his education at Suffolk Law School in Boston, MA, and graduated with his Juris Doctor in Law. Pursuing his higher education taught him the meaning of hard work, dedication, and patience—all of which was needed as he enrolled in classes, wrote papers, and took tests. He had to be at his best during his educational career, and James ensured that he was.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, James Alberino was a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at the YMCA of the North Shore in Salem, MA. He worked part time as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, helping YMCA members through one-on-one instruction obtain maximum fitness through weight training, cardiovascular fitness methods, muscle conditioning, and flexibility training. Additionally, James developed fitness classes and implemented them by teaching both basic and advanced calisthenics, cardio exercises, stretching, and related fitness methods to YMCA members. He was also responsible for customer service, advising YMCA members in the best manner possible to help them achieve their fitness goals through exercise. He also implemented computer programs designed to maintain optimum fitness levels.
James Alberino is also a certified Enhance Fitness instructor, which is a low-cost, evidence-based fitness program meant to help older adults at all fitness levels become more active, energized, and empowered to sustain independent lives. It can be difficult to remain active as people get older, and James dedicates himself to making sure older adults know that, no matter their fitness level, they can remain active, energized, and healthy. Age doesn’t matter so long as they’re dedicated to their fitness journey.
In his spare time, James Alberino is an avid golfer. He enjoys reading, traveling, pickleball, and playing with his grandchildren. He leads an active lifestyle and plans to continue doing so both professionally and personally. Recently, James has taken on a new business venture as a driver for airport travelers coming in and out of Massachusetts.
